A Word About Mr. Newton

No doubt, many of you have received ugly cards and calls from a Mr. Newton, or perhaps seen his ads in the Gwinnett Daily Post.  And you're probably wondering, what all this is about.  You're probably wondering why a private citizen is spending over $20,000 of his own 'PAC' money to affect this election.  Good question.

Simply, it appears that Mr. Newton is upset that he did not receive a job he wanted from Gwinnett County.  A couple of years ago, Mr. Newton approa...

Drug Cartels Invading Gwinnett

Did you ever think you would see a headline like the above here - in Gwinnett County?

I never did.

It's a terrible, terrible indictment upon our community that this element has decided to set up shop here.  Near OUR homes.  Doesn't matter where you live - Duluth, Norcross, Loganville or Grayson - it is near your home, your school, your park.

Why has this happened?  There are a number of theories we could espouse, but in reality it's simple: because no on...

Claims about HOST

I spent last evening at several wonderful city 4th of July celebrations.  Our cities provide Gwinnett with some wonderful 'identities' and many are doing fantastic work with revitalization.

Claim #1.  - The HOST proposal will bankrupt the Citi...

A Word About Signs

I've gotten a few e-mails from folks this week who believe that Gwinnett County has a total ban on campaign signs.  That is not correct.

Signs may be placed on private property so long as they are out of the road right-of-way.  The right-of-way is generally regarded as 10 ft. from the curb; this is often about the location of utility poles.

Most Gwinnett cities have the same rules.  There is no outright ban on signs in any location within Gwinnett County.

Leadership Plan for Gwinnett

Today we officially unveiled what Gwinnett has been sorely lacking for the last four years – a Leadership Plan.

This plan is a series of more than twenty very specific actions and goals which I believe will set Gwinnett on a road to prosperity and correct many of the ills in our community. No other candidate for Chairman of the Board of Commissioners has EVER laid forth this type of specific plan for the ...

287(g) To Become a Reality in Gwinnett

On Tuesday, April 1st, the Gwinnett County BOC adopted a resolution providing the funding necessary to implement the 287(g) program in the county jail.  This is a huge step for our county.  I appreciate all the e-mails of support I have received along the way fighting to implement this program.
